Innovative Sub-bass system keeps it simple for maximum power

B-52 Pro-Audio were showing their revolutionary ACT-18 active 18 inch subwoofer system. Powered by a custom digital power amplifier weighing only 6lbs, it rates at a whopping 1200 watts power. The built in digital amp allows connection of an additional passive sub bass - the ACT-18S, to give you all the power you need in a stereo system. The digital amp also features a built in crossover (@120Hz) so you can run your signal straight from the mixer to the ACT-18 then to the amp that powers your mid and top speakers without the need for additional crossover components.

Designed with the mobile entertainer/ DJ in mind, the ACT-18 weighs in at an impressively light 100lbs and features transit friendly handles and castors. Apparently, this has already made it a real hit with the single operator DJ /club gig customers with one reviewer being impressed enough to by their own. Although it is also possible to chain several units to give you awesome bass power for a bigger venue.

We heard a system comprising of two sub units – the ACT-18 and ACT-18S plus a single power amp with two top units and have to say that the results were trouser flapping – even though we couldn’t crank it to the max in the show environment.

Of course, B-52 Pro-Audio have some complimentary full range systems to make the setup of a kicking PA system simply a matter of four cabs, a couple of regular power cables and a handful of leads.
